California dental professionals with licenses set to expire between March 31 and Dec. 31 received an extension to fulfill license renewal requirements.

The new deadline is April 22, 2021. This is the fourth such continuing education extension waiver granted by the Department of Consumer Affairs.

A state of emergency order signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom granted the Department of Consumer Affairs the authority to take such actions.

Licensees are still required to apply and pay renewal fees by the respective due dates. The waiver only covers the extra time to complete C.E. requirements.

The order, signed on Oct. 22, supersedes the previous orders, which were granted in March, July and August.

Some dentists can satisfy requirements through online courses. Some courses are available on-demand through the California Dental Association.
